VALEDICTORY
FAREWELL. TENDERED TO THE REV. W. A. WATSON METHODIST COMMUNITY’S LOSS The Rev. W. A. Watson, who a year ago was appointed to the charge of the Waihi Methodist Church, has, chiefly on account of ill-health and partly for family reasons, found it necessary to relinquish his charge. Unfortunately for him, Mr Watson has suffered from disabilities incurred as the result of several years’ service in the Great War. His departure from Waihi has been a great disappointment to the officials and congregation of the Methodist Church, t\. whom Mr and Mrs Watson and the members of their family have endeared themselves and with whose activities they have been actively associated.
Prior to their departure from Waihi last week a farewell social was held in the Methodist Hall, when there was a large attendance, presided over by Mr F. Paltridge. Musical and other items were rendered, and games enjoyed by the young people. During the evening suitable presentations were made to Mr and Mrs Watson and to each member of their family, short addresses of appreciation and thanks being given by Mr Paltridge and by other representatives of the various departments of church life.
The Rev. A. H. Ivory, L.L.8., 8.C0m., who succeeds Mr Watson, will commence his ministry in Waihi on Sunday, April 19
