OBITUARY
* MR JAMES BOLTON WAITE
Born on the gold fields, and a popular and familiar figure in Waihi business circles during Ihe last decade, Mi .lames Bolton Waite died in the Waihi hospital last Saturday, after a short illness, at the comparatively early age of 50.
Of Thames parentage, Mr Waite who was born in Wailekauri in 1890
was early engaged in mining operations there, and was later employed on the staff of the Waihi Grand Junction Cold Co., Ltd. lie left Waihi to engage in business successively in Te Kuiti, Onehunga and Mercer, returning (o the (own in 1930, since when, and up to the lime he disposed of his interests a month or two before his death, he conducted a fruiterer's business in Seddon Street. Mr Waite was tl'.e oldest member of the Waitckauri and Golden Cross Oddfellows' Lodge, lie took a great interest in all athletic sports, and as a young nan was a keen member of the Volunteer movement. Mr Waite was a foundation member and member of the executive of the Waihi Wrestling and Physical Culture Club, taking more particular interest in the physical side, and rarely missed attending the club's gatherings, lie was always ready to help any worthy
cause. Mr Waite is survived by his widow and one child, Mrs Mary Warn. The funeral took place at the Waihi cemetery on Monday afternoon, the Rev. T. A. Speer conducting the service at the graveside.
