MARAMARUA HUNT

GYMKHANA TO BE HELD AT WAIHI TOTALISATOR MEET WANTED The annual meeting of the Maramarua Hunt was held at Maramarua, the master, Mr J. D. Fagan,.presiding over an attendance of about 40 members and visitors, including the president, secretary and two members of the Thames Jockey Club. Mr Fagan welcomed the visitors, especially those from Thames and Waihi. From all indications, he said, there would be another successful season this year.

The secretary of the Waihi ward, Mr G. R. Haszard, asked for two days to be set aside for a hunt and gymkhana at Waihi, preferably on June 8 and 0. This request was granted. The master reported that the hunt had had a successful year; territory had been extended as far as Waihi, and more had been acquired at Pukekawa, while although there was no immediate prospect of a ward being established at or near Thames, one meet had been held at Matatoki. There was only a narrow financial margin, but there would probably always be that until a totalisator race meeting could be held. The membership, concluded Mr Fagan, was in the vicinity of 200. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr H. K. Jones; master, Mr Fagan; deputy-master, Mr W. W. Fisher; huntsman, Mr S. Symes; whip, Mr W. Baxter; secretary, Mr C. Cymes; auditor, Mr L. A. Miller: general committee, Messrs F. A. Downie, G. F. Mclnnes, A. W. Marshall, J. Parker, E. Waller, F. L. Steed and two members from each of the three wards.

Subscriptions for the season were fixed at £2 2s for full members. 10s 6d for associate members, £l Is for Paeroa and Waihi, £1 lis Gd for Pukekawa ward members.

The opening date was fixed for April 21.
