THE DENTAL CLINIC
Sir, —In order to correct an impression that might wrongly be created in the minds of readers of the dental clinic meeting, I would like to state that there is no immediate danger oftlie clinic becoming un—financial. The credit balance in the bank at present is £4B and with the same number of children on the roll, at the same scale of payments, it would take two successive years to bring the credit balance down to nil. The system itself is working splendidly and all it needs is the full support of the parents. Owing to the smaller number of children enrolled this year the nurse’s time is not fully occupied, therefore there is the danger of her being taken away from Waihi for two months. For the sake of the childrens’ health, even though the fees are increased, parents would be advised to make the little extra sacrifice. With regard to the complaints made about children being reduced to tears, I would like to make it plain that these complaints do not apply to the present nurse, Miss Marshall, the incidents happening before her time and not being reported to the committee.—l am, etc., M. DENBY.
[ln our opinion it was quite inadvisable and out of order for any member to refer to unsupported allegations regarding “past treatment,” which, at any rate has nothing to do with the present administration, and our report certainly does not reflect in any way on the conduct of the present nurse.—Ed., “Waihi T'elegraph.”]
