LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

WAIHI SPECTATORS AT SATURDAY'S FOOTBALL Sir, —As a spectator at the Auckland Technical Old Boys v. Waihi football match last Saturday I was astounded at the lack of applause when the visiting backs handled the ball so accurately. When their play culminated in a score the spectators remained dumb —not at the good play, but because they were too "oneeyed" to cheer. On the other hand, when any spectacular movements were made by the Waihi team the crowd was very excited. Good sports maintain that spectacular play on either side should be recognised in the proper manner, but it has been repeatedly noticed that a large | majority o£ the spectators at Rugby | Park remain silent when the opposiI t'on team is playing the game as it I should be played.—l am, etc., SPORT.
