OHINEMURI COUNTY RATES
SATISFACTORY COLLECTION FOR PAST YEAR COMPARATIVE FIGURES •Very satisfactory rate collections for the year ended March 31st were made by the Ohincmuri County Council, according to a special report presented by the county clerk, Mr A. A. Jenkinson, at the monthly meeting of the council on Thursday. "The total amount struck was £t!392, which was £lll less than last year, and the amount collected, including arrears and the Government subsidy of 12J per cent... was £7105, which represents 111.15 per cent, of the amount struck,” stated Mr Jenkinson. "The figure last year was £7071, or 105.73 per cent., so that there was an increase of £3l, or 2.12 per cent. This is considered a very satisfactory position and the percentage of collection is exceeded only once, in 1925-2 C, since 1920, when the Hauraki Plains County was formed from part of this county. Tho current rates collected total £5748, which is 89.92 per cent, of the amount struck, compared with the collection last year of £5295, or 51.4 per cent.—an increase of £450. Arrears collected amount to £1357, which is £419 less than last year. The tolal amount of rates outstanding at March 31st, 193 G, was £3199, which is the lowest figure since 1920 by £984, which was for last year. Water charges received total £1209, an increase of £l2O on last year.”
Appreciation of the efforts of ratepayers to meet their obligations was expressed by the chairman, Mr W. Marshall, who also thanked the clerk for preparing the report. The report was received.
