MOSS WINS THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP, PLAY-OFF WITH DOUGLAS By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, this day. The play-off in the tie in the New Zealand open golf championship, decided at the Titirangi links yesterday between E. J. Moss (Auckland) and E. S. Douglas (Balmacowan), resulted in a comfortable win for Moss by 146 strokes to 155. When seven holes of the second round had been decided Moss was eight strokes to the good, Douglas having found the bunkers on two occasions. Features of the round were a 35-foot putt by Moss on the twenty-third green, after which Douglas sank one from nearly 50 feet on the thirty-firs... Moss completed the round in 72, thereby showing wonderful consistency in recording a card for the match or 146. Douglas took 78, givh g him a total of 155. Moss bas now won the title tlr.-eo times, 19 24 and 1927 being the previous years. Douglas was successful in 1913, 1914, 1919 and 1921.
