GERMAN DECISION
WITHDRAWAL FROM THE LEAGUE NO CALL FOR WORRY A FOOLISH ACTION Australian and N.Z. Cable. LONDON, October 15. That the Germans have again misjudged world psychology and done something extremely temperamental and foolish in announcing her withdrawal from the Disarmament Conference and the League of Nations about represents the view at Whitehall. where there is almost Sabbath ca.rc, apart from communications from Genova and European Embassies, of which Mr MacDonald is constantly informed. “There is no reason why London should get excited,” was one comment.
The Gorman decision to withdraw from the Disarmament Conference was communicated in a long statement handed to the persident of the conference, Mr Arthur llbnderscn, but her decision has not affected the plain; for the reassembly of the conference on Monday. No German repersontalivo was present at the meeting of the League Council on Friday aftenmon.
It is believed in some quarters that the General Commission of the Disarmament Conference ou Monday will continue its work and draw up a resolution or convention on the lines of Sir John Simon’s speech, which it would adopt without Germany’s vote one way or the other|
Alternatively, a convention or a solution may be persented to Germany for acquiecence and if she rejects it she will remain in isolation. The Powers will then stand more firmly than ever by the Treaty cf Versailles .
Others believe that the conference will adjourn indefinitely, leaving the problem of disarmament to be dealt with through diplomatic channels.
