Contrary to an impression current in some quarters, favoured localities in New Zealand, such as the Gisborne district, are able to grow a goodflavoured and juicy orange. This contention is contained in “Citrus Fruit Sepcies and Varieties in New Zealand,” printed by the Journal of Agriculture in its last issue under the name of P. Everett, orchard instructor at Gisborne. It is pointed out that citrus trees thrive best in the eastern coastal areas of the Auckland province, including Gisborne.
