JANUARY FIGURES SHOW AN INCREASE SCHEMES FOR RELIEF Australian and N.Z. Cable. CHICAGO, February 5. With 40,122 public employees awaiting their unpaid salaries the Chicago City Council has capitulated to an ultmatum from Silas Strawn’s Citizens’ Rescue Committee. They are backed by more than 50,000,000 dollars and will advance the money needed through the purchase of tax anticipation warrants. The Mayor, Mr W. Thompson, continues to regard Strawn’s committeemen as “fake performers” and refuses to co-operate with other officials who see no other way to obtain money.
