IMPROVEMENTS AT THE WAIHI BEACH

Sir, —What. “Progressive Hater payer” said of tpe Waihi Beach in his recent letter is quite correct, except that I believe the Borough Council has done ami is doing all it can for the beach. The residents at the seaside resort should now try to push matters, themselves. Why' not cal) a public meeting at the beach elect a recreation committee and appoint canvassers to canvass at Christmas time? I am sure there would be a generous response. Entertainments could also be arranged for the purpose of raising funds for improvements. The money collected would probably be subsidised by the Borough Council aijd the Government. Action is necessary now as the ground would h.ayp to be pre.pared for sowing on the lawns .by next April. It only requires a few more cottages at the beach to make the reserve self-supporting, and if recreation facilities are supplied the cottages will soon follow. Residents of the beach, you have the opportunity to make your resort one of tho most picturesque in New Zealand. Got busy!—l am, etc., VISION.
