■CHALLENGED IN SENATE BY BORAH ATTITUDE TO TARIFFS Australian and N.2.- Cable. WASHINGTON, September 20. Following President Hoover’s recent demand that the flexible provision in tlic tariff measure be retained, Senator W. E. Borah urged “That the President advise the Senate and the country if he approves of the industrial schedules in this Bill.” Mr Borah declared: “I ask him to tell us whether he approves of the duties on cement, pig iron and other matters which will increase the profits of the steel trust. “I ask him to tell us whether he is satis lied with the duties levied by this Bill on agricultural products. Will he advise us that he is satislied that the Bill meets the pledges he made in the last campaign?”
