MAKING N.Z. KNOWN

GOOD PUBLICITY WORK IN AMERICA COLONEL TOPPER’S LECTURES Since his appointment last May, Colonel W. S. Tupper has accomplished much useful work in making New Zealand known to the United States. Colonel Tupper, who was at one time lecturer for the Panama. Steamship Company, was appointed by the New Zealand Government in conjunction with the Union Steamship Company to carry on publicity work in the United States.

Upon his appointment Colonel Tupper set to work and arranged to give lectures to various sports, trade, and social clubs, chambers of commerce, etc., including those at Portland, Seattle, Takoma, Spokkane, Vancouver, and numerous -mailer towns. An excellent hearing has been given him in the Press, and audiences at lectures have been large. He has travelled over 3000 miles in giving these lectures, and four of his lectures were broadcast. On one occasion he lectured on New” Zealand at Washington University. In several towns he received requests for return engagements, and numerous inquiries as to the Dominion were referred to the local agents. The more important inquiries were placed in the Vancouver office. Plans have been made for an even more intensive publicity campaign this coming season.
