THE BOROUGH COUNCIL AND THE WAIHI BEACH

Sir, —Both “Vision anti “Ratepayer,” from their points of view, are quite fair in their references to the Waihi Beach, but let us look at it from a different angle. The Borough Council leased sections and if not giving definite promises, gave Indications by inuendo that great improvements were to take place. These have not materialised. There may not be any ground for charging the local authority with disposing of sections by fraudulent promises because the council’s intentions at the time were good, but the question is, are they morally guilty of this in neglecting improvements? If a working bee from the beach residents was willing to help in the labour, why not send a man or two out to supervise and arrange matters. I suggest that the council inquire from those who asked for a bowling green if they will agree to this. —I am, etc., FAIR PLAY.
