DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC AT INTERSECTIONS RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL The Works Committee recommended: That the Auckland Automobile Association be thanked for its communication suggesting that white line's for the purpose of directing traffic at intersections, is more effective and safer than traffic domes, and it be informed that its suggestions have been noted for future occasions; that the application of Robert V. Coffey for permission to
fence and use a road reserve situated between the Qhinemuri River and a recreation reserve known as Ashby’s paddock, be granted at the pleasure of the council, and he be informed that a gate must be erected to provide access to the road in question; ; that ihe southern end of Mataura road ■•■*. mplained of by Mrs M. A. Conies, and also inspected by the cririvhtee on the 2nd inst., be referred to the borough engineer for immediate attention; that the complaint in connection with the bad state of repair of Stanley Street be referred to the borough engineer to invest gate and to report to the committee thereon; that Mr H. Gordon bo informed thgt he must, befoi.e the council can entertain cleaning the drain on, his property, produce 10 the I'orougn engineer an agreement or communication whereby the council agreed to open and keep clear the drain on his property; that the en-
gineer inspect the official rubbish dump, off Tauranga road, with a view to ascertaining the cause of the unsatisfactory method of tipping rubbish into the dump, and that, if possible, he rectify the matter in readiness for the works inspection of next month: that Haszard and Mueller Streets, from Seddon Street to Kenny Street, be scarified and metalled: that Rosemont road, from Seddon Street to Kenny Street, be tar-sealed; that the engineer be authorised to procure six bags of blood and bone manure for top-dress-ing the varous greens at the Recreation Ground; that in view of the
forthcoming tarring programme the engineer he instructed to prepare a list of footpaths that require attention and to list them in order of urgency. |
