WAIHI DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING AKB ELECTION OF OFFICERS OPENING OF SEASON The annual meeting of the Waifif. Defence Rifle Club was held in the Drill Hall on Saturday evening. President J. G. Comes presiding over a good attendance of members. The chairman having traversed the past season’s doings and the prospects of the club it was decided, to hold the opening shoot for the current year on Saturday, October 5, the official opening, in which members of sister clubs in the adjoining; districts will be invited to participate, to take place on Labour Day. The report stated that Rifleman W. Feather had been the most successful marksman during the past season, he having carried off the club championship (Edwards’• Cup) and also the Katikati Cup, for the two best scores at all ranges. Several new members were proposed and officer's for the ensuing year were elected as under: —Patron, Dr. T. G. Short: vice-patron, Mr W. Ellerington; president, Rifleman J. G. Comes; vice-president, Rifleman. D. Littlejohn: committee, Riflemen. S. Saunders, W. Feather, J. Gordon,. W. Wotherspoon, E. Swindells and. F. Brooks; lion, secretary, Mr J, Wotherspoon.
