The discussion on the Western Samoan reports was continued in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Mr E. J. Howard (Canterbury South), moved that New Zealand’s policy be recast to bring the administration into line with our declared policy of “Samoa for the Samoans.” After a speech by Sir Apirana Ngata Mr Howard agreed not to press the point and allowed his amendment to be rejected on the voices. The report on the Offenders Probation System was then discussed and consideration of the report on the Prisons Department was commenced shortly before the House i-ose at 5.30 p.m.
