ACADEMY THEATRE
BIG ATTRACTION TO-NIGHT AND FRIDAY At the Academy Theatre to-night and to-morrow night will be screened the greatest picture since the triumph of “The Birth of a Nation.” This is D. W. Griffith's masterpiece “Drums of Love,” with Mary Philbin as principal, and comes fresh from its triumph at the Majestic Theatre, Auckland. Lionel Barrymore, Don Alvarado, Tally Marshall and William Austin are also in the cast of this wonderful picture. It depicts a sacrifice on the altar of war, with the woman married to the brother of the man she loves. What a situation, and what a picture! Griffiths has never made a greater drama than the “Drums of Love.” The most startling achievement since “The Birth of a Nation,” “Drums of Love” is a mighty spectacle of storm-tossed passions. It combines the dramas of “Away Down East,” the unfortuate romance of “Broken Blossoms,” and the magnificent sweep of the “Orphans of the Storm.’ ’ “Drums of Love” has as cast of 2000 and patrons should not miss this great wonder picture.
