Ihk railhead of the main trunk line from Waihi eastwards has now reached luapiro, and is in touch with a very considerable pr-portion of the -settlers of the Kali kali district. This means thiil if the tradespeople of Waihi are alive to and take full advantage of the opportunity offering they will find room for a material expansion of business. Between Waihi and -Tuapiro, and beyond, several hundreds of mouths have to be fed, and a corresponding number of backs clothed and feet clad. The carriage of commodities by rail will not be costly, and all that is necessary to bring increased biade to Waihi is for those who have the goods for sale to get into touch wi h the settlers and ascertain their requirements. It is a recognised fact that food, clothing, boots and shoes can be supplied from tins town at prices which will compare more than favourably with similar requirements procurable at the centres from which many settlers have hitherto been drawing their supplies, and if Waihi business bouses show initiative they will benefit directly and indirectly benefit the community. Opportunity is knock ing at ihe door, let it be hoped they will not allow it to pass bj'.
