A number of engineers employed at the Newcastle Steel Works ceased iwork yesterday afternoon, and refused to start to-day. An extension Iff trouble is feared, but no further action will be taken till the Council of Action meets on Wednesday and discusses the dispute. PERTH, thus day. The trades unions are bitterly opjwsing a return to the AS hours week, and state that they are determined to Brush work at the [usual 44 hours’ time. Pho engineers threaten to strike, and have called a meeting for to-night to make a final decision on - the question.
