BIG BLAZE AT PETROL WORKS
FORTY EIRE BRIGADES FIGHT FLAMES. THE STILL-HOUSE CHITTED. Renter’s Telegrams, (Received 8 si .mo LONDON, April 20. Forty lire brigades fought the fire at Capol and Leonard’s petrol distillery at Hackney, a, metropolitan borough of London, and lorries were reqnistinned to throw toils of sand on the blazing oil. Tho flames shot upwards for hundreds of fee.fc, am! as the oil tanks were threatened the neighbouring houses and factories were evacuated, the inhabitants fearing explosions. The fire was eventually controlled, only the stillhotise being gulled. Fifty tanks each containing 5000 gallons of p trol escaped.
