—_—* MEETING OPENED AT TRENTHAM. (By Telegraph.—T'resi Aisocaat-ou.) WELLINGTON, this Cay. The New Zealand Rifle Championship Meeting opened this morning in dull and misty weather. There are 441 competitors present, of whom 357 are rifle club men, , 50 Territorials and 18 Cadets. A stark was. made on the service series, which aaie expected to finish to-day. The Australian team was unable to come to New Zealand owing to the transport trouble, but the extended programme put on in expectation of their visit is being retained. The toital prize money is £2,000, apart from trophies.
