FAREWELL PRESENTATIONS
A social was held yesterday afternoon ; y tho ladies of Si. John's Church as a ! irewoll to Mrs Scott, who is leaving tho j arish. I P The complimentary social tendered to • i Hesdamcs Truscott and Scott by the ; n adies of Waihi and the Hospital Board | e )assed off very pleasantly last evening in i q St. Johns' schoolroom. JNotvritstandiog ' 0 ;he inclemency of the weather there was i good attendance of friends. The i , Mayor (Mr Donaldson) and Mr W. J. | ' Brown (chairman of the Hospital Board) > 1 were present. After a coupla of hours bad j been spent at progressive euchre, Mr ; I Elliott favoured the company with a t pianoforte solo and Mr Evan Morgan j rendered a couple ot songs. The musical ! t items were very much enjoyed. The f Mayor, Mr Donaldson, in a few remarks j very highly eulogised the splendid work i t of Mi'sdames Truscott and Ssott, He ' ', said they were two ladi-s who would be . very much missed from Waihi, and their places would be very hard to till. He 1 recalled that frctn the start of the hos- ( J pital, many years ago, the two ladies,' were found every year in the ranks of ' the noble women of Waihi who worked < so strenujusly to make thu Hospital , Ball the revenue goHer for the local < iasutution that it was. He added that . on behalf of the town ho must thank [ both, and wish them health, happiness and prosperity in their new homes. Ho then presented to Mrs Scott a beautiful cake dish, and to Mrs Truscott ' a silver mounted oak tray, and as a special gift to Mr Truscott from the ladies of the Central Patriotic Guild a pretty hot water jug. j Mr John Irvine replied on behalf of Mrs Truscott and Mr W. J. Brown (chairman of the Hospital Board) on behalf of Mrs Scott, Both speakers heartily eniorsed what the Mayor had said. Supper was then handed round and the singing of " Au.'d Lang byne " brought a very enjoyable social evening to a dose.
