DEFENCE OF A GAOL,
TROOPS-, TANKS, AND LEWIS GUN

Companies of soldiers hold the streets ecu verging on Mount Joy gaol, and two tanks are ready, will a Lewis gun in position on the footpath. The police are sufficient to preserve order, and the heavily-armed soldiers look rather sheepish upholding authority and dignity. The police admit that a popular outbreak is expected, and explain that the tanks are only out for exercise.
