BOGUS BLIND ANZAC
EXEMPLARY SENTENCES IMPOSED. For falsely representing himself to bo a returned soldier, for illegally wearing a military uniform, and for imposing upon the, public by representing that he was a blind Ainzac, Alexander Mack, alias M'Mu'llon, was at the Albury police court (Victoria) sentenced tne other day to six months' imprisonment, cumulative on a similar sentence ho -'« at present serving for imposition ft W'affa, aMd also to six months concurrently tor wearing a military uniform. Warrant Officer O'Dunnell, who prosecuted lor the district commandant, said that heavy penalties had to be. asked for in such cases, Which had become of frequent occurrence, and wlere very difficult to deal with in dmntry districts. The police evidence showed that when defendant was first seem at Junee his eves had been painted black, and lie ' pretended ft> be blind He wore goggles and was led about by a boy. He played 'a*violin in front of hotels aiad business i houses and tlhen took up ejections. When arrested defendant admitted that be was not blind. He had £43 6s on 1 him, having gathered £l3 from Satur- ' day night to Monday.
