SETTLEMENT ON THE LAND. THE RECORD TO DATE. (By Telegrapn. —Press Association ) WELLINGTON, this day. The Hon. W- Guthrie, 'Minister of Lands, in the course of a statement, says that up to date 1624 soldiers have been settled on 796,000 acres of lane, under the homos purchase scheme, and that 937 soldiers have obtained houses, while £2,750-000 has been spent on the purchase of private and native lands for soldiers’ settlement.
