Mr Djer, S.M., doubted this, as the daughter had called on him the previous day, when she appeared to be quite well. It subsequently transpired that, although tlie mother was trying to excuse tho daughter, she was the informant ill tho caso. His Worship made some remark to the effect that, it was a move- to have tin; child committed somewhere. Tho mother, who did not clearly indicatewhat her idea wn.«, said that tho magistrate 1 !- supposition was a wrong one, but a further remark, in which she said that she did.not wish to do any harm to her daughter, but wanted to benefit tho chilti, pointed to his Worship being aboiil right. Tin- ca.se was adjourned a week for the daughter to be well enough to appear.
