PROSPECTING AT KARANGAHAKE At Monday's meeting of tlie Ohinolnuri County Council a letter was received from Mr. R, Stackpolo, applying for assistance in driving a crosscut 500 feet in tlio South British claim at Karangahako. On tlio motion of Messrs. Marrinan and Corbett, it was decided to eubsidiso tlio driving of the crosscut and to recommend tlio application for Government assistance. MAOItILAND. SUBSIDY GRANTED. Tlio following letter from Mr, W. M. Jackson, secretary /to the Maorilaml G. M. Co., was read at the last meeting | of tho Ohinemuri County Council:— " Your letter of the lfitli November last to hand, and in reply my directors instruct me to inform you .that they are prepared to take up the Government subsidy as proposed in your letter. It would, however bo impossible for my company to pay in the full amount of £SOO at onco. I presume you will bo prepared to accept it in sums of, say £SO as required." It was decided, on the motion of Messrs. Corbett and Grace, to grai't tlio subsidy on the terms mentioned bv Mio Maoriland G. M. Co.
