Katikati Road Board
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Katikati Road Board was held on Saturday. In the inward correspondence letter/i were received from tlio Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland, giving a return of " halves" available, and also stating that by the Act ho was precluded from applying same for the construction of the tlritara wharf, towards which a subsidy of £ for £ has been placed on the Estimates by the Minister of Marine.
Tho .Chairman read a letter ho had written to the Minister of Lands, requesting him to pass a short Act of I'arliamont legalising expenditure of this nature, hut subject to his veto. It was resolved to oppose the proposal for tho formation of n Harbour Board at Tnuranga, on the ground that it would entail additional rat-is without conferring any benefit on Jufikati. It was also resolved to support the To Puke Road Board in its endeavour to induce the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile to remove the hoad ofiico from Tauranga to To Puke, thereby enabling tho County Council, and not the borough, to receive the autionecr's annual license fee of forty pounds, paid hitherto to the latter. After pausing some accounts for payment, and transaction of routine business, the Board sat as the Domain Board, and the committee's report was adopted, recommending the erection of bathing sheds at each side of the bay for men. and women; enclosures to be made by ti-treo stakes as protection against sharks, but subject to the approval of the Waihi Borough Council's iidvisor,v committee-Own Correspondent.
