Coroner's Inquest An inquest was hold yesterdftj nftemooD on the body, of Harold Gordon Haines, aged two and a half years, before Mr Muz D, King, district coroner, and the following jury:—Messrs,A. H. Clark (foreman), Wm. Gardiner, Tlios. Feather, T. A. Johns, Jss, May, aiid J, Stephen, . '; Eliza Haines, mother of deoeased, deposed that eiio was attending to her baby in the sitting room on ' Monday morning last, and the boys (four)j including the deceased, wero'in the kitohen, Suddenly she hoarU a terrible scream, and, rushing into thekitchen, met tho deceased,' who was badly scalded on the baok, arms and legs, tibe applied remedies And sent for the doctor. The child suffered greatly, and died the following evening at about six o'clock. The brothers oi deceased said that tho eldest boy had placed i dish on the floor and poured boiling' water from the kettle into it, intending to wash up the breakfast things. Leaying'thedish on the fl >or, he went outside and filled tho kettle. 'During his absence the o| hers were romp-;' ing about' in 'the kitchen, when the dir ceased ohild tripped and ;fell: backwards into the' dish of water. The boys'took hiai. out;. and wore taking, him to his mother when she met them. Drj Slater deposed that ho ettondccl the child and found it terribly burned. The shock had produced cqnyulsiops, which resulted in death taking place. The «auso of dea;h was from buras., Tho, child was sturdy and healthy. . .
