TO THE EDITOR

Sir.-I should veiy much liko Mr Foster to explain his attitude on prohibition. In Whakatane, according to report, hi telle the doctors ho is not a prohibitionist. Hoie, he says etery ono kuows bin views. I for one don't, unless ho means thai, like thei nit of tho crstwbilo prohibitionists, h is for tho presonlj in hvour of no-licensoi only. Wo all remember the scandalous manner in which prohibitionist* turned oa Mr Seddon when he proposed making prohibition ieal by prohibiting tho import of liquor into.no-liconso districts. Is this tho explanation of Mr Foster's attitude ? We all know that he faced a Jersey bull not long ago in preference (o conniving with tho other councillors consuming the accused drink. Again, laminformed, that u «e Mr Foster is against the freehold, while id Whakatane ho favours it. Per' haps bo will explain, and if I have wronged him I shall willingly apo!ogise.-I am. etc., ' '' ,J.V.B. "
