ANGLO-JAPANESE TREATY

London, October 2 THE Times St. Petersburg correspondent reports that the Russian Government do not consider the Anglo-Japanese treaty indicative of an offensive policy, and recognise the possibility of Russia and Britain gradually paving the way for an understanding respecting Asiatic interests, He says they disavow a forward policy in Persia except for the furthering of trade.
