Privy Council Delays
Complaint by Sir Robert Stout

Sir i Roiibrt Stout, in a letter to the Times reforring to tho published denial by the Lord Chancellor of his delay in dealing with colonial cases before tho Privy Council, says: "During tbo last fifteen years twenty-nine Now Zealand cases have been decided by tho Council, and three of these took, from tho dato of final decision by tho New Zoalan-1 Court to tho date of tbo Privy Council's decision, from nine months to under ono year; and thirteen took over one and under two yoars. Of those 13, nine took between two and threo years, two between three and four years, one over five yoars, and ono required sovon years. Tho Chief Justice adds that tho Lord Chancellor has assumed that ho has blamed tho Privy Council for tho delay, " but," ho says, " I did not state who, in my opinion, was to blamo. I said, and I repeat, that the judicial system under which such delays oconr requires reformation."
