The Football Season.
Goliifiulb' Team. [By Looker On.] The Goldficlds' Team to meot Thames on Saturday nest was cboson immediately after tho Paeroa-Waihi mu'cli Saturday, and is as follows: —Full, Olurlco. three-quarters, Ooote, Landy, Forsler; five-eighth, Fraier; half, Breunan; wings, Ootlio and Bramblo; forwards, Capill, O'Neil, Sorenson, McCjuley, Rukutaia, Olurb, Silcoek, ■ Afur perusing tho jist, I cannot oonceivo what the selectors wore thinking about in lo wins out Morcan and llickit, especially tho former, Tailing ilie tiro matches that Morgan has played in Waihi into consideration (panicularly Sulurday's), it'ijoiio cm see llmt ho should huo b-on ouo of tho first selected, as in that game ho was undoubtedly the best back on tho ground.. Tho selectors could O'isily have played Morgan in Frasor's place (five-eighth). Tbo-laltor, who plays a iiuo game in that position, should havo been playing wing forward, as ho is second only to Gallagher in tho Auckland province as a wing forward, I think a placo could have bocn found for Ricliit in ilu thrco-qiurtor division, Tbo forwards aro a good lot, but on last batnrday's play Collins should have bean chosen in p"e(er» once to Ruku'.aia, I don't wish to throw cold water on iho efforts of the selectors, as I think it is a vory difficult matier for thorn to select a teaJi from mon whom, porhaps, llieyhavc only seen pi lying onco or twioo. I only hope that next Saturday 'the tooni will do the selooto orodit. •
