Meeting' of ilucklaiirt District At the annual meeting of tho Auckland District of the Anciont Order of Foresters, hold in Auckland last January, it was de" ( oided to in future hold the district mootings half yearly, instead of quarterly; also that tho meetings should bo movable instead of being held in, Auckland. At tho January moating tho delegates from the Waihi Court of Foresters succeded in securing for Waihi tho honour of being the place of the first meeting of the Dislric' ruder the new eystom. lO_ accordance with that resolution, tho executive oflioers of the Auokland district, together Aviih a large number of delegates from tho various Forestors' Courts through • out tho province, avrivod in AVaihi in order to.tako part in tho proceedings. ■ THE MEETING The meeting was opened at 2 o,clock this afternoon in tho local Forestora' Hall, when thoro were present District officer* W. His Worship the Mayor (MrT, Gilmour was presant at tho opening of the meeting, and extended a cordial weioome to the visiting brethern on behalf of the citizens of Waihi. BEfORT AND BAMNCE SHEET The oxeoutive report stated: - . " This being the first half-yoaily meeting of the Auckland District since its formation in 1873, the Exeeutivo take tho opportunity of congratulating the delegates upon the decision of the last District Meeting, which, we believe, wi'l be conducive to the welfare and extension of our Society. We would abo congratv 'ato tho members of Couri Waihi upon the strides they have made since tho formation of their Court on tho 23rd June, 1895. With a membership of 177, aud funds to tho amount of 1975, for nino years' work, this branch of our Society has reason to be proud of the progross made, and wo sincersly trust that onr meeting this day may be the means of sti" further increasing thejjumber of its mimbora Wo also desire to thank our brothtrn in Waihi for their invitation to hold this mooting in their fine ball, . " We regret to say that during tho past six months' faneral claims have been very heavy, the sum of £3lO having bezn paid on that account, being for thirteen members, five wives, and one widow. "In consequence of Bro. A. E. Groenslado being elected to the position of D.8., it became nec 'ssary for the Exeoutive to appoint an Audiior.in his place, and they nominated Bro. W. Ramsey, of Court Victoria, laiil the vacancy,.aad wo trust the appointment willmeot with the approbation of the Delegates, " The Brethern of Court Coromandol have lately built a Fores era' Hull in that township, arid they very courteously oxtendedan invitation to the District Offices to et'ond at the oooniug function. The D.C R. represented'our Society, on ,ihe occasion, being very kindly and v enthusiastically received.
