The weather is now clear, after two days' inoessant rain, and tho water in the river is subsiding, A sonous wash-out occurred yestorday on the rnilwsj lino, but tho lino is now impaired. Business people in Taup'o Quay had a soaro on Saturday night owing to a false alarm from Pipiriki that the river had risen four feet above the highest flood level, and thoy remained up- nil night shifting the goods in their cellars and the lower floors out of harm's reach, , -Thoflood was.considerably lower than last year's. Heavy fSain in Oiayo < Ddnedin, this day. Heavy rain is reported from contra Otago. Floods in Marlborough Blenurim, this day Tho Hoods in the Pelorus and Wakamarino districts did damago to roads and bridges. It is feared thero is much loss,
