Mr Sievenaoo complained of tho high Australian terminal charges, and said he considered that Now South Walos had treated the Pacifio cable unfairly, Mr Chamberlain remarked that Britain's position in the cable world was due to private enterprise, and ho saw no reason wfiy the Government should at present embark in further cable enterprise, He indicated that the Indian rale would shortly be reduoed to 2s, and tho Egyptian nto lo Ib, The West African rate was not unfair, It was unnecessary to' refer tho Pacific view to the conference.
