Sergeant Sheokan appeared'.for .the police. . . ■'/■■■'' Dr, Chridgo deposed that lie had held a post mortem examination on tho body of ' deceased, He had found ell tho organs in a cooditioo of fattj : dagoncration. The liver was much enlarged, and the abdomen was full ol fluid. Tbo oanse of death was syncope, due to fatty degeneration of tho heart, There were no marks of violence onthebody, J. E, A, Tolnier deposed that ho vieitedthe deceased's residence in Consolsstreet about dinner time yesterday (Wpd rtesday), Deceased was sitting on a chair, apparently asleep. He colled to him, and, getting no answer, cnuie to the conclusion that something was wrong, whereupon he went away, aud, mooting Mr 6. Colebrook and Mr Laurie, told'them of what he had seen. All ihree went to , the house,'and afterwards went for tho doctor, andt also informed tiie police, The : deceased had : previously told witness that' his wife and two children were residing in Sydney, 1 He bad also told witness that his age was 68, George Forlzer doposed that he had last soon the deceased alive at eight o'clock yesterday (Wednesday) morning in .the main road near Brown's old sawmill, peceised appeared to be going in the direo\m of his borne, . Constable Rodoriok Fiulaysoa deposed , 5 that he visited the residencel and found ' deceased sitting in a chair near the table, He was then dead. He examined the body, and found no indication of 'violence, . Sergeant Sheohan deposed that he had. made iuqniriea ua to vharo tho deceased had been on the morning of his death, but could not loam where ho had (been, He ha J known tho dciiiiasoJjfor about a year, and was awato .that he did accountant work for Mifl.
