SiDNur, this day. Before tho Lands Commission Mr Willis, mi cx-moraber of tho Assembly, who was puid X6OO for undertaking to secure the conversion of oerlain leases into improvement leasoy, said that his object in undertaking lo have tho lcasos converted was to make thorn separate and distinct, Though tho land laws aid not provide for the conversion, bethought that no reasonable Minister or Department would object to a method being adopted wboroby tho people interested would be pnt in a financial and proper position. Until somelhing like what ho proposed was done the whole of tho pooplo would bo hunted off the land. Ho explained that tho heavy charges in the case were unique, because tho case* had to bo dragged through; he whole of the "ourts of the lind. Still, had ho been allowed to carry them through he believed he would havo won, Ho emphatically denied that Mr Oriolt, the then Minister for Lands, was in any way inter' osted in tho matter, Ho hotly denounced the ores?, in which ha ha 1 been scandalously treated by scurrilous hounds.
