To THE EDITOH. 24 Lower High-street, Cbristchuich, April 18th, 1904. Dear Sir,—Allow me, through the medium of your columns, to give my own experience regarding the methods now before the public for the relief and cure for rupture, I'or the pasttwenty-five years I have suflered from a bad scrotal rupturo on my left side. 1 tried every kind of truss that jjavo the faintest hope of relief, but gradually got worse. Twelyo months ago I adopted a treatment with an elastic truss, to be worn day and nigtrt and a lotion to be rubbed in. I acted according lo directions, but instead of it curing me L,got worse under the treatment, the uouv being some train indescribable. While in th s deplorable condition the advertisement of Dr J. A' bbetmon ■ Method caught my eye in the papers, and three weeks ago I consulted Mr Martin at the Olaredon Hotel. I am happy to say that there and then I found the relief I had beon 'longing' for. The appliance is the most comfonable one I ever wore; in fact I don't feol it on me, Aiieady j. feel quite a ditterent man, and have enjoyed bettor health theso few weeks man 1 have done for years. Hence you will see why I appreciate Mr Martin's services, and I feel it my duty to make this public declaration,, that others affected may know where « obtain relief, and avoid the delay and suffering from experiments such as 1 for long years experienced. Apart from Mr Martin's undoubted skill as a specialist ni native, it m a pleasure to add that he is one of the most straightforward gentlemen I havo ever met, I am, yours truly, Williim Bates, Furniture Manufacturer. Mr A. W, Martin, j Heriot, December 28th, 1903. ' Dear b.r,-My four children tpated by you are all cured. One boy 11 years old had been ruptured for ten years.Jthe girl, 8 pars old, had been ruptured for tiro nan. mother boy, 5 years old, ruptured sircc a baby, and the youngest, one and a-half yeais old, also ruptured since a baby, I say Dr J. A. Sharman's method is a great boon to Humanity, as 1 am convinced that it is a certain cure for rupture. Yours gratefully, Mbs. Wm. McDonald. M Tiil' Ma t ™* Mornington, Dunedin, April 7th, 1904. uear air.-lt glV es mo very great pleasure to lot you know that lam keeping Al. i was ruptured about throe and a-half years ago, and foolishly negleoted it for about 18 months. The rupture bad then broken right through am* completely filled ihe wowm. I went to my doctor, and ho ordered me to wear a truss, so I went to the ciiemißt and had one adjusted; but I might us well have left it alone; in fact, I fullered more pain with it than I did without it. 1 was ihen told by the chemist that i won d have to get one mado specially to suit me, and I was sent to Mr Johnstone, the specialist, ihe special truss he made supported che rapture, but it was heavv and cumbersome and so close fitting that I perspired very considerably, and was kept uncomtortable. After wearing the above for about nine months I read your advertisement ro tho Dr Sherman method, and after my first interview with you I was forced to the conclusion that the Dr Sherman method was by far the most commonsense method that had come under my notice I then placed myse.f under your treatment, and I am exceedingly thankful to be able to say that my first concurs have been fully substantiated by the results, and I am now a sound man. After navmg tried three different appliances I can honesty state that for safety, surety ana comfort, Dr Sherman's method is just the thing for anyone troubled with this common yet painfu, ma ady. Yiu are at perfect liberty to make what use of this you lite. Believe me to be yours sincerely, W. G. I must say lam more than satisfied with your method of treatment, and am very grateful for the result." MU.W.Ma*™. ' WMmate,May3,l9o4 Dear Sir,—ln reply to your kind enquiry I hardly know how to thank yon for curing me of a very painful rupture bjDr A. Sherman's method. I left off wearing tbe app mnces three months ago, and I have never felt better in my life, not even before this affliction came upon me. At odd times' I put on the appliances as a safeguard when I take atlalotic exercise, and it is so comfortable to wear. I am sure I could not have been long for this world if I had not got your treatment as the pam and torture of other trusses, of which I had many, were something cruel, and would kill any man in time. Your treatment is one to be proud of and thankful tor, and it will afford me great pleasure to meet sufferers and tell them how pleased i was with it, You are at porfect lEberty to uso this as you like.—l am, yours Sincerol y- W, P. I TO ,s advised by a medical mail to undergo nn operation, which I did. I followed out his in» struotions, and after tho six months had expired be told me I need wear the truss no longer, as I was cured. No sooner did I rei&ove the truss than I found myseif in a worse _ condition than before, Not only did the rupture again appear, but the operation had bo mutilated me that the rupture was twioe as large. From that time I wore trusses and trusses; some aided me as long as I kept in a upright position, while others were nothing short of a sweaty coa'trivance Three months ago I consulted vou on Dr J. A. Sherman's method, and I do not hesitate to wj that I have derived more enjoyment md oflife these pad three months than I have derived for the past seven years. , T cannot say as to tho oun itive powers of this treatment, as my case has not given it a trial yet, but this T do know, that the appliance worn is the led friend, ever invented-for sufferers of hernia. For myself, lam not particularly anxious about a cure so long as I have the appliance. I ran in a one hundred yards foot raco on the Caledonian Ground the other day, which is in itself efficient prooj of the support offered by this appliance," A Manager of a large establishment in Princess-street, Dunedin, writes:—"l have suffered untold agony for the past 35 years from a double scrotal rupture. Some of them gave rne extra to rturo by chafing my skin nearly off the lack, I was getting alarmed at my fearful condition, and had given up all hope of relief, when I noticed that Dr J. A, Sherma n's method was to be introduced into New Zealand. I resolved to give it a trial, a'nd certainly without any faith, as I could .not imagine that by applying a com? pound to tho outsido it would cause a wound to heal inwardly, However, I consulted Mr Martin, and he suited the troitment to my case, and I must say that I felt th>e first day that life was worth living after all. The appliance is light, keeps its pla oe, and having no pads to to aoh the backbone. I have freedom to do .anything, I have not finished the com pound yet, as I not only want the orifices dosed, but made thoroughly strong, which will be very shortly now. Consider the size of the op cnings, and the short time I In we used the Sherman Remedies, I think it simply marvellous, and as long as I live I will do what I can to put all people who suffer from the trouble on to the Sherman Treatment, knowing that tho benefit they will receive will cause them to tell others-.." 4 a•« Mft y 28 ' m A Manager of a large station in Southland writes:-" lam pleased to inform you (hat I have no_ further trouble since I got your appliance in December last, and I think the cure is pretty well completed, though I have not yet gone for any length of time without the appliance.
