Abodt 1 o'clock this morning a firo ooourred in Ellis' blacksmith shop in MainBtreet, Paeroa. Before the alarm was given tbo fire had a strong hold, and tho edifice, including tbe adjoining apartment, ÜBqd for repairing vohiofea, wns practically burned to the ground, Very liiil*, we understand, was dived from tho buildings. The origin of the fire is not known, but it is surmised tint a live spark from' the fnroaco ignited sorao woodwork near by, A largo number of people turned out, including all the inmates of Crosby's Eoj'ftl Mail Hotel, situated on tho opposite Bide of the street.
