Monthly Meeting The usual monthly moeting of thoWaihf Hospital TruatoDS was held at the hospital last evening, Present: Messrs T, Gilruour (iu the chair), J. A, Brown, A. H. Benge, J, Wood, E. Newdiok, and J, Hondorson.
Tho Hou3o Committee reported that tho contractor had commenced the erection of tho gardenor's room.
Mt Donaldson nuid that there was some defect in tho laundry department, in the matter of the tuba being too small, causing great inconvenience to tho laundry staff. Sooner or later it would havo to be remedied, and he would uiovo that the incoming House Committee soo to.haviiig uew tubs, and various defoots ;|;e v |lfieM This was seconded by tho ohaifMfMbß carried. ■ ' vv^
It was proposed by Mr Brown, seconded by Mr Donaldson, ihat iho House committeo take stops 10 proctiro aud lay 6 inch drain pipes in front of the hospit <l, and that Mr MeArthur be asked to give the levels.—Carried. A letter was reoeivod from tho Government S'alo Fire Insurance Department to tho effect that tho dopartmonc would rospeotfully draw tho Trustees' attention to tho fact that they would esteem it a favour if tho Trustees would send any fire insuranoe within their sphere of influence to the State Firo Insurance office, soeing that the Department, ng they perhaps understood, expected support from those departments which reoeivod subsidies from tho Government. ' *
Mr Brown thought it was only a fair thing to givo tho letter favourable consi' deration.
The Chairman thought it was an impudent letter He did not see why any moro consideration should be given to iho Sta'.o Fire Insurnnco than any other fire insurance company. Mr. Donuldson thought that the State Fnc Insurance Department should hrtvi oonsidora'ion, nud niovad that the letter be reccivoil, und that tlio manager of the Department be advised that tho buildings wore at present covered, but that on tho expiration of the present policy thoy would favourably consider the mattor; and meanwhile that tho Department be askod to send along the rato of premium. This was seconded by Mr, Brown and carried. A letter was received from Miss Holma Keith, Te Auto, Hawke's Bay, intimating that on bohnlf of Archdeacon S. Williams eho was forwarding a Maori New Testament, prayor book and hymii book, for tho uso of any Maori patients who might bo admitted to the hospitpal. ThoArohdeacon, the writor stated, would also be ploased to send a Bibb, and if tho Trustees would like it tho Achdeacon would bo very pleased to send it.
It was resolved that the letter bo received ; that a letter of thanks be sont for the Tosbnient, prayor book and hymn book; find that the offer of the Bible be accepted. It w-iB rosolved that accounts totalling £10616s fid be papssod for paymont, It wns nsolved that all supplies for tho coming yotr be left in tho hands of tho House Couiraittof, to be duly ftdvoriieod, and tho result placed beforo tho Trustees at the next mooting.
