A meeting of the Waihi Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, which is constituted by tho Borough Council, was held immediately aftor the Council meeting on Thursday evoning. HOSPITAL CONTRIBUTION'S It was agreed to pay to the Hospital Trustoes tho sum of £75 whioh had boen voted by the Council towards hospital maintenance. JIOiIE LAND FOR HOSPITAL A report was received from tho Borough Inspector (Mr W. Murray) stating that tho Health Oflisor had recommonded the Board to acquire furthor land noar tho qito of the present hospital as a resorve for an infeotious disaases hospital aud also for an old men's homo. Tho Chairman (.Mr T, Gilmour) speaking on tho matlir, said be desired tbo Board to givo instructions for tho land to be appliod for and also that any applications for residonco sites within the area should be objected to by tho Board. Ho had already told tho Warden that it was thoir intention to lodge an objection against two applications which had beon mado for sites near tbo soptio tank at tho hospital. Ho moved that steps be tiken to tub np all tho land outeido the" Waihi Consols special machino site as an addition to tho hospital site, aud also that tho.Board object to tho granting of any reisidonoe sites within tho area. Cr, Nowth asked how largo the present hospital reserve was, and on receiving 11 reply that it was about seven acres,,>,expressed tho opinion that it was plenty largo onough for nil requirements,
Cr. Donaldson said it soemod rather unfair to object to ono of tho applications for residence sites which Hps been lodged. The applicant in the case hnd poggod out tho section before tho present suggestion to tab tho ground as a reservo hud boon made. As to the septic tank, it ought to be ono of the cleanest places in the town if it workod properly. Ho moved that the land be applied for with tho esoeption of the section pegged out by Mrs Higgs.
Tho amendment was seconded, and on being put to tho a'ootjn" was carriotl by 5 votes to 4, tbo motiou being defsated. Tho Chairmau said that in virtue of his position ho would make an objection to tbo granti.ig of the voiidenoo si to, Wo understand that the are e n to be applied for is about five nores in stent. CHARITABLE AID OASES A numbor of applications for charitable aid woro disouesod and dealt with, ACCOUNTS. Accounts for ohjrituble aid supplies, amouuting to £5 la 3d, were passed for payment.
