Field.Marshal Oyama reports that fierce fighting took place from January 25th to the 29th. The enemy consisted of the First i Siberian Army Corps; one army c'orps of the Second and Fiflh Brigades of Sharp-shooters, part of 'the Eigth Army Corps, Sixty-first Siberian Division, and some Chasseurs—a total of at least seven divisions, with one cavalry division. The Japanese casualties were about seven thousand, and the Russian at least ten thousand.
