WAIHI CONSOLS G.M, CO.

BORING OPERATIONS

SATISFACTORY PROGRESS OF THE

BORE The contract for boring to n depth Oj 1250 feot, let to tho Diamond Drilling Com. pany in tbo early part of last year, has not been by any means satisfactory to tbe contracting company. During tho operations for the greater part of the timo a good deal of trouble, loss of time and expense, was experienced, owing to .the unfavourable naturo of the country being peqetrated by tho drill, oansing tho sides of the bare hole to cava in at frequent intervals. In consequence of thoso drawbacks tho. borers wero forood for a time to suspend operations. Sinco the work was resumed, however, the conditions have muoli improved, and at the present rate of progress tho bore hole should bo completed within a reasonable time. The drill up-to-dato has penetrated io a dopth of rather over 750 feet. Wo under stand from the manager that tbe drill is working smoothly, and penetrating the. country at a very satisfactory speed.
