Whale Strikes a Steamer
Whakgabei, this day,
On a recent trip from Hokianga, whon between Ahipara aud Capo Maria Van Diemon, a lnrtjo whale struck the Glenelg, and on tho blade of the propellor touching the whalo a severe shock was felt, causing tho chiot engineer, who was below at tho time, to stop the steamer.

i At the Magistrate's Court this morning a prohibited man was foun 1 i's or in dofault one month's imprisonment, for having liquor in his possession, This is tho first case in Masterton under the now Licensing Act,
