Terrible Scene In (lie Stokehold

' The accidont rlrcady reportod in brief occurred at sevon on Friday morning, Thero was a terriblo rush of stoam, which envolopod tho vessel, and she gradually slackened spoed, and thon stopped, Tho second engineer, who had just come on deck to make a report to the chief, guessed what had happened, and rjshed forward to tho stokehold,' from where a volume of steam waß issuing. After about ton minutoa, and beforo tho steam had properly cleared, the engineer and some white greasers descendod to tbo stokehold and saw a terrible sight. A branch steam-pipe, eight inches in diameter, loading from tlio main pipe to tho port forward boiler, had burst, and of the eight Indians employed in tho vicinity not ono escuped uninjured. Tho groasers proceeded to draw tlio fires, and tho engineor removed the men to the deck. Four wore dead, and two were badly wounded and died tho same day. One was seriously injured, and will bo landed at Colombo Eight were slightly hurt. The men who were killed wero literally cooked. The hair on their bodies was biown off by the steam presanro of ICOlbs. At tho time of explosion the second engineer had a narrow escape, as he had examined tho pipe two 'minutes beforo tho explosion, and wont on deck to report to tho ohief that the steam was oscaping,
