Half-Company Match.
On Bntnrday next the members of the No. 8 O.R.V, will compote for the first of a series of matches for tho handsome silver flower bowl presented by Mr J. Li\CEcy, and n set of carvers presented by an Auckland merchant. This match will be fired ovor a class-firing coarso Fourteen shots will fired at 200 yards nl head and shoulders targets, 7 being from behind cover with a Bseo exposure of the ftror, and 7 magazine independent with' a time limit of 45secs, each hit on target to count 2 points. Fourteen ihots will bo fired at 500 yards at all ordinary second class targets with a three foot vertical black band. The conditions are the same ts at 500, except that the time limit i 9 extended to 6 seconds and 60 seconds, Each hit on black band will count 2 points; on other parts of tho target 1 point. If timo permits on Saturday afternoon 10 shots (magazine volleys) at sectional targets at 000 yards will be included in the competition, volleys to be fired by squads picked from the half companies present on the range in tho afteri noon.
It is nocesssrj that overy member of
tho company who can possibly attend Bhould shoot at this competition, as it tfill not only count for tho trophies but also includes tho olnss firing which it is necessary that every man should go through before the end of the volunteer year in order to capitate. Man who do not shoot on Saturday will have to «o over the same course another day, • The following iB a list of the division of
