WAIHI GOLD MINING COMPANY A report rccontly furnished to the diroctora of the abovo company statss that No. 7, tho now low level, Royal lode> was being driven npon both notth and south on its north section, The drive north was in 145 ft, and a very large flow of watar—fully 1300 gallons per minuto —was issuing from tho faco. The Bouth drivo was in 85 feet, and very liitlo water was making. Here the lodo was of small dimensions, and fairly hard. Both the B and C pumps at No. 5 shaft wore pumping, raisins 1700 gallons par minute, and this was reducing the water level of the mino. The catting down of No. 6 shaft to the proper she from No. fi to No. G lovel was newly oomploted. At No. G lovel winzes were being snnk on the north section of the Martha lode along the level as fast as the loworing of the water permitted, Tbo deepest point roaohad was 52 feet. In Bullson No. 2 pass tho valno of tho oro was: Gold, 2oz 14dwt 10»r, and silver 18oz lOdwt 16gr, In Loo Pass (dowa 46feet) the value was: Gold loz ldwt 9gr, and silyer 3oz Gdwt, In Plummor pass (down24(i) the value to 24ft was: Gold loz Gdwt 18gr, and silyer Ook Odwt 15gr; and in Juno pass (down 83ft) the value for tho last 10ft was: Gold Odwt, 20gr, and silver loz 6dwt 23gr. Sloping was being carried pn in this block with highly satisfactory results, in tho sulphide stopes more particularly. Three winzes wero in progress on the Rogina lodo below tho lovel. In Prico pass (down 49ft) tho valuo from 35ft to 44ft was: Gold Bdwt Igr and silver 17dwt 23gr; Heady pass (down 7of() the value from 33ft to 40ft was: Gold 13dwt2gt, silver 10ozl8dwt9gr; and in Nut pass (down 14ft) the valuo was :■ Gold 2oz 4dwt 3gr, and silver lloz ldwt 6°r, Driving on tho Boyal lode baa been temporarily suspended ponding tho completion of the rises to the level (ibovo. The east drh'e was in 420 ft from tho north section, the width of tho lode in the faco being 4ft, and the value along the levol from 386 ft to 420 ft: Gold lodwt 7gr, and silver 3nil7dwtlgr. Thowealorn drivo was in 314 ft, with a :>ll faco of quartz showing, and no walls seei. Tho value from 285 ft in was: Gold Bdwt 6gr, and silver loz lOdwt lOgr. Slug pass was down 70ft below the level, and Bft-of ore exposed without rovealing tho walls. Judging from indications, tbe lodo here,was of largo dimensions. Tho valuo from 25ft to 64ft down was: Gold loz Odwt Ggr, and silvor 2oz 18dwt 3gr. In Moran pass the valno from 20ft to 40ft down: Qold 2oz 2dwt 10?r, and silver 2oz lOdwt 15gr. On tho Empiro lodo tho Rolkcr winzo Was down 17ft, and bore tho ore was ohietly sulphide, tho valno to 12lt down being: Gold: Gdwt 21gr, and silver 3oz 4dwt 13gr. '. Several winzes wero to bo commenced-"along this level, following the watet'downi A contract has been let to extend tbe south-oust crosscut from No. 2 shaft, in order to connect with No. 5 shaft, the object being to oonvey tho water from tho auxiliary draw-lilt to A Pump at No. shaft, instead of allowing it flow along-'tho line of tho Empire lodo, which would very much hamper the future work boluw this level. At No. 5 levol the east drive on the Royal lnd9 frotii the north section was in 370 ft, The reef had narrowed down to a few inohos, approaching tho parting line between the reef-bnaring country and tho recont andesito. The valuo abng the, level from 830 ft to3soft was: Gold lldwt 19gr. and silver lGdwt 23gr, The west-1 ern drive was irt 468 ft, tbo lode being very hard and heavily mineralised, The value from 548 ft to 568 ft was: Gold lOdwts 15grs, and silverl loz Bdwts 2lgrs, At No. 4 levol the drive on tho north section of the Martha lode was in 420 ft east of No. 1 shaft north-west crosscut. The drive was being continued in tho footwnl l oountry, which contained small veins of mineralisodorj. At No. 3 lovel a commencement had be«n made lo drivo east on tho 1 lodo from tho old south-east crosscut from No. 2 shaft, and 20ft bail been driven. Tho valuo to 12ft was: Gold 3oz ldwt 22gr, and silver 6oz 2dwt 16gr. At No. 1 lovel tho west drive on the Empiro lodo was temporarily susponded at 136 ft in. In the faco the reef had narrowod down considerably. The value from 01ft was: Gold 7dwt lgr and silver 17dwt 19gr.
