G, Ward on (behalf of Mr, Seddon) gave notico to movo that inquiry bo mado in respect to tho constitution of Land Boards, tho tenures upon which lands may bo obtainod and occupied, and whothor Crown tenants labour under restrictions which aro inimical to thoir woll-boing and unnocossary in the interests of tho State. Steward's Legislative Council Roforin Bill wjs committod, At clause 8 Mr Massoy moved an amendment affirming the pnnoiplo of an elective Legislative Council, and Mr Tay lor inovod an amendment to the eftVct that no further nominations be mado to tho Council by the Governor, After a lengthy discussion Mr Massoy's amondmont was negatived by 85 to '27, ond Mr Taylor's was thrown out by 49 to 13.
